JAGUARS CONTINUE TO EXCEL OVER THE WEEKEND AT BUTLER INVITATIONAL - IUPUI Jaguars

INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's tennis team put together a second solid showing in the fall slate over the weekend, collecting six singles and three doubles victories at the Butler Invitational.

Meghan Bernard continued to excel for the Jaguars, earning a pair of singles wins, while Gabrielle Ochalik, Sarah Lounsbury, Samantha Hayward and Marta Krakowski also earned wins.

Bernard knocked off Western Kentucky's Laura Bernardos in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 before falling in her next match. However, she rebounded for her second victory over a WKU player, this time picking off Alexis Cramer, 6-3, 6-3.

Ochalik outlasted Dayton's Elizabeth Hamilton 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 for her singles win and Lounsbury cruised past Butler's Emma Sand, 6-1, 6-0. Hayward, who won her flight at Illinois State two weeks ago, ended her tournament with a win over Cramer, 7-5, 6-2.

Krakowski defeated Dayton's Jordan Mitchell 6-1, 4-6, 11-9 for her lone win of the event.

In doubles play, Bernard and Hayward teamed up to beat WKU's Cramer and Taylor Shaw, 6-3. Ochalik and Krystal Grubb combined to Dayton's Neena Katuaskas and Hamilton by a 6-2 score and Krakowski and Lounsbury teamed up for a 6-4 win over Dayton's Mitchell and Natalie Stanton.

Bernard improved to 5-1 in singles play this fall and Hayward moved to 4-1.

The Jaguars will cap the fall slate when they compete in the ITA Regionals in Murfreesboro, Tenn., later this week.
