As the high school football season continues, the Seahawks continue to award local coaches of the week. You can see the winners from the entire season here. Take a look at the selections from October:
Buddy Wood, Riverside High School
Riverside improved to 5-0 after beating rival Freeman in Week 5. Coach Wood's squad moved to No. 3 in the state following the win.
Danny Figueira, Mt. Spokane High School
After Mt. Spokane's head coach tested positive for COVID-19, Coach Figueira led the team to a 27-0 victory in Week 5. Half the team and coaching staff were quarantined, making this one of the most impressive wins of the season.
Dave McKenna, Gonzaga Preparatory School
In a league matchup, Gonzaga Prep defeated Central Valley High School 35-7 in Week 6. They are once again a contender for the 4A state championship.
Cary Nagel, Tenino High School
After defeating Montesano High School in Week 7 for the first time in over 20 years, Tenino is off to a 6-1 start under Coach Nagel.
Steve Kizer, Skyview High School
Skyview toppled Union High School in Week 7. A longtime coach in Washington, Kizer's teams are known for their energy and passion.
Brandon Walsh, Almira Coulee Hartline High School
Coach Walsh has ACH ranked No. 2 in the state following a Week 6 victory over No. 1 Odessa High School, snapping Odessa's 37-game win streak.
Justin Young, Davenport High School
Young has led his team to a 7-1 record and No. 8 ranking in 2B. Davenport is a consistent playoff team with a prolific Double Tight Single Wing offense, which racked up over 500 rushing yards against last year's league champion Chewelah on Friday.
Terry Green, Franklin High School
After not winning a single game over the previous two seasons, Franklin is now 6-2 in 2021, a remarkable turnaround. Coach Green has helped change the culture of his alma mater.
